Teaching & Management

Responsible for coordinating and managing many teaching and management tasks at the department and college levels:

  • Timetabling Committee Chair at the Department for three periods (2008-2014).
  • Graduation Project (TECH4999) course coordinator at the Department (2010-2015).
  • Department representative at the Undergraduate Studies Committee at the College of Education (2010-2014).
  • Department representative at the Bachelor Programs Committee at the College of Education (2010-2014).
  • Developed and reviewed of the Department study plans between 2008 and 2015.
  • Member of the Student Grievances Committee at the Department.
  • Reviewed and updated the College study plans for all programs in conjunction with the College Student Affairs Officer between 2008 and 2014.
  • Member of the Field Experience Committee at the College between 2013 and 2014.
  • Member of the Technology-to-Support-Accreditation Committee between 2011 and 2012.
  • Member of the committee for preparing the proposal of the master program in instructional and learning technology, which has been approved in the academic year 2014-2015.
  • Participated in reviewing the Department study plans and preparing student computer labs at the beginning of each semester.
  • Designed four different courses (TECH2111, TECH2113, TECH4101, and TECH4102) at the beginning of the establishment of the Department, wrote their study plans, choose the student books, and identified lab requirements for teaching these courses including hardware and software.
  • Participated in writing the Department self-study reports, first version (2007) and second version (2012) for the review of the external evaluator.
  • Member of the Technology-to-Support-Accreditation Committee emanating from the main committee for accreditation of the College 2013-2014.
  • Coordinator of the Department seminar for course development between 2008 and 2010.
  • Participated in the assessment of TECH4101 and TECH4999 courses periodically and submitted proposals and recommendations within the procedure for the preparation of the SPA Report to obtain recognition of the academic program from ISTE.
  • Participated in the review and development of several courses at the Department according to the NETS standards.
  • Participated in the description and development of Information Technology for Vocational Guidance course (TECH5000) with colleagues at the Department of Psychology.

Technical & Design

  • Over 10 years professional experience in teaching, training, research, and curriculum development in the field of educational technology, e-learning, distance education, and multimedia.
  • Extensive experience in explaining the use and integration of technology in the classroom and workplace to faculty.
  • Long experience in the design and deliver training programs, workshops, seminars and support materials on the use of LMS and other appropriate learning technologies for enhanced course delivery.
  • The founder and manager of PresentationTube, a network for producing and sharing video presentations. PresentationTube offers a video presentation recorder and video sharing platform to faculty easily produce and share quality video presentations in a new way. The video presentation recorder allows presenters to narrate and annotate PowerPoint slides and synchronize a variety of essential visual aids, including webcam streaming, whiteboard, drawing board, web browser content, and desktop recording.
  • Designed, developed and evaluated a standards-based assessment tool for faculty members at SQU. The tool helped faculty in documenting, managing and communicating student performance based on content and performance standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of developing curriculum, criterion objectives, lesson plans, presentations, and examinations on various topics in instructional & learning technology.
  • Instructed faculty how to integrate technology in their classrooms focusing on Web-based applications, applications include LMS, online discussion boards, online surveys, social networks, Blogs, multimedia, e-learning, etc.
  • Managed the instructional technology aspects for the Internet Society Grant for PresentationTube Project, and RealGrade project funded by the College of Education, Sultan Qaboos University.
  • Introduced, installed, configured, and administrated many LMS courses; using Moodle, Blackboard, Course Sites, etc.
  • Developed, installed, and configured tens of academic related online projects and Web sites (such as the Egyptian Repository for Learning Objects) for faculty and academic departments while serving as lead instructional technologist; sites in Arabic & English.
  • Developed many programs for in-service teachers in Oman in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Center for Life-long Learning at Sultan Qaboos University .
  • Provided training to over 240 in-service IT teachers and LRC specialist each year about teaching IT for schools students and learning resource centers.
  • Provided workshops and seminars in various topics for faculty at Sultan Qaboos University, including technology integration, flipped lectures, assessment and reporting tools, cloud computing, social networks in teaching and learning, online videos for supporting student learning, etc.
